I'm in need of one this morning and I never seem to be able to shake hangovers. Any good cures, or even anything that takes the edge of it would be appreciated! A long day at work to follow. (i know, not sensible at all... :/ )

Please don't say prevention is the best cure....it's a bit late for that now! lol.

Thank you!!!

  1. Stop drinking.  Guaranteed to stop all hangovers permanently.  Works like a charm.

  2. Well, if your never able to shake hangovers, that means that you drink too much.  A hangover is due to dehydration.  Rehydrate your body and you will feel better.

  3. here is the secret cure: what you need : 1 paramedic/RN/MD friend. 1 bag Normal Saline, 1 18g IV needle, 1 50ml dose of D50, about .15 mg of Epinephrine. and there you have it: hangover gone for good.

  4. the trick is to drink water while you are drinking the alcohol. Ethanol has a dehydrating effect, so by rehydrating while your going with water, you can stop the hangover before it happens !!!

i find that berocca  tablets help as well !

  5. drink lots of water

  6. A hangover is dehydration of the brain.  Water and plenty of it.  Actually the best thing to do is drink a full glass of water before you go to bed.

  7. 1. EAT.  Eat something soft and easily digestable and preferably salty.  I'm not sure why, but salty foods seem to help a bit.  Just don't over do it.

    2. DRINK.  Drink lots of water.  I mean LOTS.  Alcohal is notorious for dehydrating people.  Part of the reason you're feeling so bad is that you need water.  Continuously sip water.  Try for about two glasses in the first thirty minutes and then just keep sipping normally.  If your pee turns white or clear more than twice, you've probably had enough and should only continue to take water if you're thirsty.

    3. Rest.  Before work, try to get as much rest as you can.  Through out the work day, take brief rests.  Be careful lnot to over do it with the rests, or you'll get in dirty-dirty with bosses and co-workers who think you're slacking off.

    4.  TELL THE TRUTH.  Unless you're under aged, admit to your immediate supervisor and co-workers that you're feeling a bit under the weather today.  Tell them you didn't get much sleep last night and complain a bit (good aturedly) about feeling tired.  So long as this hasn't been a regular occurance for you most people will be a bit tolerant if you're not operating at peak efficiencey today.

    Now; on to prevention:

    1.  Drink one glass of water after each acohalic beverage.  Alcohal de-hydrates so it is imperative to stay hydrated.

    2.  Pace yourself.  You don't have to keep up with the national drinking champ in order to lhave a good time.  Consume alcohalic beverages gradually.  This gives your body time to deal.

    2. b)  Secretly fill an empty beer bottle half way up with water and sip on that for a while.  Most party mongers (idiots who think it's funny to force others to drink more than they can handle) will assume that it's another beer and back off with the peer pressure a bit.

    2. c)  For mixed drinks i.e. rum and coke, sip the drink as you normally would.  When the glass is about half way empty, go for a re-fill.  Re-fill with just coke.  Keep sipping as you normally would.

    3.  EAT.  Have a large-ish, easily digestable meal before drinking.  This slows down the rate at which alcohal enters your system and gives your body time to adjust.  Also nibble a bit on salty stuff while drinking.  I'm not sure why, but salty stuff seems to reduce the frequencey of hang overs.

    4.  Don't stop drinking al at once.  Reduce your lcohalic consumption gradually through out the evening.  This reduces some of the shock and let's you sober up a bit before the actual hangover.

    5.  Try to get at least six hours of sleep.  If you have to be at work for five, don't leave the party at four and expect to be fine.

    Hope all this helps.

    P.  S.  :              A friend of mine once told me that the best way to avoid hangovers was to stay drunk.  Not easy at work unless you're a politician.  :)

  8. Wake up and work out before your drunkenness turns to hangover, or if you have access to a steam room that works to,  sweat out the alcohol

  9. Time is the only thing, haha. That was on my drivers ed quiz. When I get hangovers I just sleep all day.

  10. Eat a Banana, have a ibyprofin, and drink lots of milk.

    it works for me.

oh and have a hot shower, it will make you feel wayyy better.
