I was just wondering because I'm going to play a tournament in a couple of weeks, can you "slide" on Har-tru clay courts? I heard they were made from rocks and they were harder than ordinary clay courts. Answers are well appreciated. :]

  1. Yes, you can slide. The difference between red and green clay (har-tru) courts are that the red clay bounces higher and is slower, while the green clay bounces a little bit lower and moves a tad bit faster. Not really much difference, though. But they don't have too many red clay courts around anymore simply because they take too long to dry up, while green dry up faster. Green clay courts are what some usually call "fake clay."

  2. yes, har-tru is kinda bluish grey color clay, it is harder and faster than the european red clay. you should slide on it just like playing red clay.

  3. Yes you can. I played on Har Tru courts several times. They are made from the tiniest rocks. They are harder and  a lot more fun to slide on than clay. When you step on a Har Tru court for the first time you're going to want to just slide for no reason at all. They are a fun to play on.

  4. The clay are harder little rocks. It seemed more closer to playing on a normal hard court than playing on red clay. It's harder to slide than normal clay. But it's really fun to play on ^^

  5. oif course u can slide! its hard to slide into a forehand or backhand so u have to get in position quickly!
