if you are planing on eating them i dont think you eat the gills anyway so it relly dont matter

A harbour porpoise is a mammal and not a fish. They have lungs and breathe air through their blowholes. They do not have gills. Although they have no gills they can still dive for up to 20 minutes before coming up for air.
