Harry Potter/Honeydukes copyright?

I want to open a small sweet shop in the name 'Honeydukes', selling traditional sweets and 'wizard' sweets such as chocolate frogs etc. I can't find any information regarding the copyright or trademark for honeydukes or honeydukes merchandise on the warner bros website, and when I emailed them for information they didn't accept my email as they thought it was spam. Does anyone have any information or contact details that may be useful? Thankyou.

  1. I think Warner Bros. and JKR would consider this copyright infringement. One suggestion I could make is to run your business under a name that doesn't appear in the series. You should really try to contact either JKR or Warner Bros. berfore going into business, by snail mail if necessary.

  2. Princess,

TradeMarkExpress.com - check out this website - I think they can help.  And hey, lemme know when you get open.  I wanna get my hands on your menu, sounds good.

                      good luck

  3. Try peter.wright@warnerbros.com. He is the Senior Vice President and General Manager at Warner Bros. and deals with digital media advertising. If you mention that in the future you might want to become an affiliate and advertise with Warner Bros. then he might put you in touch with the copyright dept? It's worth an email at least. Good luck.

  4. well the books are copyrighted...so there for u cant because jkr owns the rights to stuff like that..that was her idea and she made sure she owned it...so unless u contact her and make it so u both open that specific candy shop together or u get her permission and part of the money u get goes to her...lol, u just cant...if u do i guarantee that ul get a lot of lawsuits going on once the word spreads that u have a shop called honeydukes and u sell candies like in harry potter...ul end up being slapped with a lawsuit like that one guy that made the harry potter dictionary.
