Question:

Harry back from the war?

Is it me or does anyone else think Harry in Afghanistan was one big royal publicity stunt?

How could the royal family ever look any bereaved parent in the face had Harry not have gone? Mission Impossible?

The royal family got alot of mileage out of this one, and even had an exit stratedgy to bring Harry home before the rest of his regiment. The t.v footage of Harry shooting at the Taliban just looked so phoney! I think Ross Kemp got closer to the action than Harry did!

Anyway Harry's home a hero and Prince Charles feels closer now than ever to all those who have sons and daughters serving abroad, mission complete!

  1. nope, i dont think it was intended as a publicity stunt, but it has worked out to be one

for the first time ever i have a tiny bit of respect for the news papers, but the royal family have not changed in my mind, all it has done is said yep, he trained as a oldier and so he has a job to do let him do it

if they didnt want him to go to war they shouldnt have let him koin the army in the first place

best wishes to those who have had to stay

i agree ross kemp did more to promote afgan war then harry did

    x*x   vici

  2. Here here!

  3. I think Harry was getting bad press for necking too much booze, spending too much time staggering out of night clubs and generally making an *** of himself,"The Firm" probably thought it expedient to show him in a better light, hence the showcase Prince with a gun in his hand.(shooting at Taliban instead of defenceless birds)

  4. they had to bring him back... bars were closing all over the place in the UK and  Afganistan was dry .

  5. I quite agree.  He would have known he would only have to stay in Afghanistan as long as his being there remained secret and there was little chance of that being the case for very long.

I don't know why he is being hailed as a 'hero' for doing a 10 week tour of duty when others are going to be there far longer.

  6. I don't think it was a publicity stunt. Why would he want more attention? I think that he wanted to make a difference and not just sit on his royal butt. Good for him.

  7. vodka sales down????

  8. Give credit where it is due.  He went, he saw and then a flipping US news shot gives the game away.    At least he had the guts to go and find out for himself what it is like.  If he was not born into royalty he could well have become a regular soldier.   Don't think the royal family have got any mileage out of it - only the newspapers pushing the story.

  9. It was no publicity stunt to start with the Royal Family do not go in for publicity stunts also he had been out there for 10 weeks and there was suppose to be a news blackout on it but some American website broke that blackout probably thought they could make a lot of money out of it, also it was not Prince Harry's idea to come home it was the top brass at the Ministry of Defence and it was so that other members of his regiment would not get targeted just because of him

  10. It wasn't specifically a royal publicity stunt - more like a Government publicity stunt borrowing heavily on a young prince growing - a little late, I think - into a man.  Those who know him well are probably very grateful to the Army for that.

I hope it will not legitimise a crazy and pointless American imperial war in the minds of woolly Royalists and others.  I have the greatest sympathy for the Servicepeople now in harm's way for the US empire - above all, I want to see them supported by bringing them home.

I would like to see many more British families as relieved and happy as Harry's family must be today.

  11. big deal so he is home,so what .tell me all our other brave lads are coming home that,s what i want to hear!

  12. I cannot believe how negative everyone on this site is tonight.

And also, why does everyone want to call poor Harry a liar?

When he didn't go to Iraq he was called a coward, when he went to Afghanistan he was called a publicity seeker & a liar. The poor guy can't win, can he?
