I am thinking of taking a cruise by myself. Has anyone cruised single? I am married, but hubby working and cannot take the time off. I am thinking of going by myself, I was wondering if anyone else has cruised by themselves? And if you had a good time? Females especially.

Thanks

  1. Chances are that you would have a very good time by yourself on the cruise.

Something to think about, though, is the price.  The cabins are sold for "doubles".  The price for a single is at least 150% of the price quoted as "per person".  Sometimes, depending on how sold the cruise is, you would have to pay 2 persons fare to cruise as a single.  There is not such a thing as a "single cabin" - all are doubles.

You may feel like a 5th wheel at dinner if there are no single people at your table.

You probably would have a good time but it would be a whole lot better time if you went with your hubby or another girl.

  2. I went on a boat cruise by myself and the very first night I was booked solid.

  3. I sorta used to cruise alone. I dated a cruise ship employee and I would cruise on his ship sometimes. He could only spend time with me when off duty, so I was left to my self ALOT!!! There are so many things to do and you will meet many interesting people. I always packed a good book and if nothing else, grabbed a lounge chair on deck to read (and nap!!!) But, have you considered asking a female friend to go along? My first cruise was with my best female friend and we had a blast...Good luck and have a great time.....P.S. Once the male staffers realize you are traveling alone, they will pamper you even more so!!!

  4. Been on several cruises by myself as my husband is a captain on oil tankers and doesn't care to cruise when he isn't working.  I always have a good time as there are a lot of activities on board and when you go ashore, you go with a group of people.  If you are an outgoing person, you should have no problem.  People are friendlier than usual on a cruise, so you shouldn't have any problems meeting or talking to people.  Go for it....

  5. I know of a female friend where she cruised Asia alone. She's single so it was exciting for her when she met a single guy. They kind of stuck together the whole trip and ended up together still after the cruise.

For a married person like you, you would enjoy if you want to try doing things on your own. Or you can meet other people, not necessarily guys, but there maybe other women alone on the trip and wants to meet other girl-friends. There are lots and lots of activities on a cruise so you never have to do nothing. Or it would be a good time to chill. Just sit and stare on the ocean! Enjoy and take care :)

  6. Don't be put off by me saying this but personally, I don't think I'd like to be on a cruise on my own. I think it would be very lonely having to enter every entertainment  on your own unless you find someone travelling alone as well and befriend them. It's always better and much more fun to travel with a friend, plus you could both protect each other from  drink spiking and other possible dangers, which goes on on cruise ships sometimes. Just my opinion ok. If you do go, I hope you have a nice trip.
