  1. dont you will git viruses i did

  2. you'll be fine seeing as I regularly download movies off torrents and use LimeWire to download music. I haven't recieved any letters from our service provider (BT) but if we do I will stop. They send the letter to warn you and if you keep downloading after that then they will starting slowing down your internet connection.

I say just keep doing it until you get a letter. I doubt you will get one anyway. Good luck ;)

  3. we used to use limewire until we found out it was illegal, plus you are almost certain to infect your computer with a virus if you use limewire regularly.

  4. i dont use limewire that often but when i do limewire is great and ive no probs with it!!

  5. don't worry i have been using limewire for so many months and i have been downloading so much music and videos but still ihaven'tt received any letter from BT so dont worry.

  6. i install it every fortnight and uninstall it when im finished with it straight away no letters yet

  7. I use limewire and have been for about 2 years, its perfectly safe and i haven't had any problems with it so far. I haven't recieved any letters so i guess somebody is lying, dw its perfectly safe!

  8. i havent used limewire for a while since they said about the letters although when i did use it, my pc ran slow so i just installed it, got what i wanted and then uninstalled it straight away

  9. Even if you were using limewire, and they do send you a letter, the letters themselves have no legal authority. I followed this for a while regarding torrents, which are more likely to bundle a whole movie or whole album (or multiple albums) in one file (torrent) than a network like limewire, frostwire, etc.

So the music industry hires people to monitor p2p networks. When they see something that they can reasonably prove was a violation of copyright, they'll go after that IP address's internet provider. If they can bully that provider into giving them your information, they'll send you a letter and threaten you. If you pay them, they're happy. If not, there isn't a whole lot they can do unless they can show that it's worth their time to prosecute you - in other words, if you aren't a big enough fish, they won't get any real outcome for the difficulty of prosecuting you.

The people who do this look for people who share movies and albums that haven't come out yet, and/or share LOTS of files. If you don't do either, you basically aren't worth their time... or it costs too much to go after you.

So download an IP hider, don't share or download too much, don't let your computer sit there for weeks at a time, and don't go after movies or albums that haven't come out yet.

As far as Limewire, my internet provider blocked it a while back... they got sued and had to unblock it, but I got tired of all the junk and spam and virii. I only do torrents now.

  13. it put a virus on my friends computer

  14. I have used lime wire. I also have received warnings from my internet service provider. Its rare but, just know that everything nowadays can be tracked. If you do decide to use lime wire, I suggest downloading PeerGuaradian first. It hides your IP address and minimizes your risk.
