Has this happened to you before?

Question

We have a feedlot next to our house where we keep about 120 of our spring calvers. Yesturday morning they desided to get out to eat the lawn and weeds around the place. The funny thing is that I got in my pickup and drove right by without even noticing they where out. Has this happened to you?

My husband called and asked me why I didn't notice. I can't figure out what I was thinking.

Yup, been there, done that, honestly about 5 times since we've had our farm (over 15 years). Don't feel bad. It is just because you get wrapped up in what you're doing and your plans in your mind and you just plain don't notice it.

I was the one who did it at least 3 times and got the same type of response from my hubby. I was so upset that he'd even try to place blame on me for something like that. It's just natural, especially for women, because we have so many things to think about and care for. Anyway, then HE did it and I was SO happy. I am not the type to say 'see, it can happen to you too!' but I sure wanted to. He did mention though that, 'how could I not have noticed them'. Funny!  

You'll have a lot of wierd experiences like that if you do this for very long. Such as when I got up one day and my horses were in the neighbors pasture with their horses. I didnt think anything of it for about 5 minutes. Or the time I went out to my pond, which is my pride and joy, and started pulling weeds in the flower beds. I got almost to the pond on my little knee pad and there was the bull, standing in the middle of the big part of the pond, turning in circles, eating all my precious plants and flowers. I was only about 15 feet from me and I didnt notice him! I could have shot him when I saw the damage, not only to the pond but all the plants he ate. It took me a couple years to get them going so well! Plus, I was scared to death of that bull!

Life on a farm is busy but laid back as well. So don't sweat it. It probably will happen to him, and then you can gloat a bit. God Bless
