Question:

Hate the taste of olive oil?

I know olive oil is healthier, but I just hate the taste. I'm trying to swap out regular cooking oil for olive oil...do I just need to suck it up and deal until I get used to it, or is there some way to make it more palatable?

  1. well i would say suck it up because olive oil is so much better then cooking oil and fyi

their are Many differ ant types of olive oil extra extra virgin is best and pomace is the worst

extra virgin comes from juice of olive and pomace comes from squeezing the pit juice out

  2. my mom hates the taste of olive oil too. why dont you try adding some dried herbs or garlic or crushed red pepper to your bottle of olive oil and it will impart its flavor to the oil hopefully masking the flavor of the oil. I believe if you do add whole garlic cloves to the olive oil you have to store it in the fridge

  3. Are you using extra virgin olive oil?  It tastes stronger than vrigin olive oil or just plain old olive oil.

You could also buy flavoured olive oils... I have lemon, basil, and hot pepper flavoured at home that are great.

    Good luck!

  4. I agree with Chelsea - you can add flavor to it like garlic, herbs, crushed red pepper...

I'm sorry you don't like olive oil - I just love it - it has such a wonderful smell. Sorry - getting hungry now. haha

Maybe something else to try - experiment with different types/brands of olive oil - some are better quality than others.

    Good luck!

  5. Hate is a BAD word

    dislike

    I object to

    stinky

    foul

    BUT hate

    sorry

When you go the the grocer's you have a very wide selection of oils

the reason is their cooking temperatures.

some are excellent in salads for their flavor like  walnut  almond  there are others

olive oil is good for high temperatures.

the first pressing of the olives should be the the lightest in flavor Extra extra should only have oil

healthier is nonsense  oil = fat,,, gasoline = money

as far as the taste,, use a banana extract ??

  6. Eventually you'll get used to it, but in the mean time. try using different flavored herbs and condiments and as time goes by try using a little less every time.

  7. There are other healthy oils, which don't taste so strongly. Try cold pressed canola oil, it's full of unsaturated fatty acids and of basically neutral flavor. Sunflower oil is also great. Line oil is considered the healthiest, but it tastes a bit too much like oil-paint for my taste. - Each of these is as good as olive oil.
