Haul my bike with a truck ?

Okay, so I will be moving from California to Texas at the end of the month. I am planning on putting my 2008 gsxr 750 on the back of a 2009 toyota Tacoma but I am pretty nervous about it. Do you think it will be safe to haul my bike on the back of a truck bed? Has anyone done this before? The bed liner is stock so its plastic and I am a bit nervous. Should I just rent a trailer?

Same as the other guy's said, just be careful how hard you crank down the front strap's if you force it too much you can blow the fork seal's.

This will require the help of a friend.

Use some ramps and load it up.

Stand it straight up, attach a minimum of 4 ratcheting tie downs, 2 front 2 back, to the hooks in your bed sides.

Ratchet them TIGHT, this will hold the bike in place, as well as compressing the suspension, and take all the movement out of it.

This is done every day, it is safe, if you have any doubts, go down to the bike store after you load it and have them check your straps.

I carry $20,000 worth of race bikes in the back of my truck almost every weekend. If you use good tie downs it will be fine.

as long as she fits in the bed you shouldn't have a problem. get a friend to help and a ramp to load her up with and plenty of tie downs. i've hauled my bike like this a couple of times and had no problems at all.

i haul bikes in the back of my truck  quite often. use 4 -6  ratchet straps

and only compress the suspension a couple of inches or you will blow out a fork seal

Hey I once put my panhead in the back of a little f150 ford ranger,it hauled it no problem at all.and yes it was in a truck cause it broke. just put it in diagonal and put it in first gear and use tiedowns front and rear. I allways use two up front and two in back.

Like others said, put the front wheel up against something such as the back of the truck, this will act as a bit of a choc, strap it down from four points, you can buy tie downs for the front that have sleeves for your hand grips to sit in and have straps hanging off them, highly recommended, compress the suspension down to avoid the straps from slapping about, front first then rear. You can find ramps and straps on ebay, or bike shops. You can use cam buckle or ratchet straps for tie downs just tie a knot after cam buckle if you use them as a safe guard, all this stuff isn't cheap though, would be cheaper to pay someone to do it and then it's insured against damage.When you take it back off undo rear first then front and trail the front brake as you wheel it of to maintain a manageable speed, get a mate to help you, it will be an experience if you haven't done it before, just call a professional, less stress all round

Whats the problem??? if you use adequate tie downs you will not have a problem....and yes the bed will hold it, Just make sure you buy a wheel chock of some kind or make sure you wedge the front wheel into a corner of the bed so it wont wiggle loose.

we do this all the time with 2-3 bikes in back. as long as they are strapped down with RATCHET straps you'll be fine. don't skimp on the straps!
