Question:

Having problems with itunes?

I've had no problems with itunes until I recently upgraded to itunes 7.

I uninstalled quicktime one day. I didn't realize it was required for itunes. I tried to re-install it but it didn't work, and then when the quicktime download worked it gave me this error message:

"Quicktime 6.5 is installed, itunes requires Quicktime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall itunes."

When I tried to install quicktime 7, I got the same error message.

So, should I uninstall and then reinstall itunes?

Or, what should I do?

I have windows xp if that helps with anything.

  1. uninstall itunes and reinstall it after. If that doesnt work, uninstall itunes again and run a registry cleaner. Restart the computer and reinstall itunes again.

  4. No problem at all. Many people have reported the same "similar" issue with iTunes 7 and 7.6, really all it is is a firmware problem. Make sure that your update mode is set to manual and not automatic, and usually you should not encounter any problems.

Always update past iTunes 7 if possible and get the very latest tech, don't leave firmware alone for long in those circumstances.

Make sure that your iPod is also cleaned out of any temp files or un-needed songs, and the same for your folders on your computer. This should make it run alot faster, and also alleviate any problem that the firmware gets at times. Another great thing is to just get the iPod Classic, it introduces Cover Flow technology which eliminates alot of the problems by sorting and playing your songs on auto. You can re-arrange the whole track at the flip of a switch, making it smooth.
