  1. I've done a few "luaus" for parties, lots of fun. Google luau and you'll find all sorts of recipes and ideas.  I put some of the websites I used below.  Try lomi lomi salmon with crackers, I made chicken/pineapple skewers with teriyaki sauce, "kalua" pork made with pork tenderloin, chicken long rice, a ramen salad, coconut shrimp.  You can buy taro and sweet potato chips. For drinks try Mai Tais.  For dessert I bought Haagen Daz pineapple/coconut ice cream which is delicious, and made macadamia, coconut, chocolate cookie bars.  Try Orientaltrading.com for inexpensive favors and decorations.  Have fun.

This site gives a whole long list of foods they serve at parties.

  4. ewww, spam and coconut?

I like spam, but no. That's a little too spam-ish.

gohawaii is the state tourist board.

alohaworld.com is where people from Hawaii go to find recipes.  There's a recipe forum.

but if you want "hawaiian-themed" why not just buy some Lachoy teriyaki sauce and get some frilly toothpicks? A little pineapple, and some mai tais?

  5. Though it sounds stereotypical a coconut-pineapple smoothie would be good. Try fresh pineapple (or canned) mixed with some coconut milk or water, ice and sugar will make a nice and refreshing treat. And for the non-vegetarians, believe it or not, spam is big in Hawaii. Try slices of fried span with pineapple slices on it wit coconut shavings.
