am confused! is the sony rdr-hxd770 a hd dvd player or not?

  1. Its a normal dvd recorder, sony wouldnt do HD DVD as its there competitor, but that player is just standard dvd and hard disk


  2. No, it's just a normal DVD recorder. Sony are the enemies of HD DVD! they make blu-ray DVD whilst microsoft back HD DVD. Blu-ray is actually better (it has higher quality and 5 times more storage) but the players ae slightly more expensive. If u want a blu-ray player, just get a PS3, that'll do it for £350 which is how much the players alone usually cost!

  3. The hd at the beginning stands for hard drive not high definition so its a hard drive that stores programs that can be recorded from the tv.so the picture quality wont be as good as a high def dvd player. hope this helps

  4. Mostly no.  It upscales regular DVDs to 1080p but that's not true high-def..

    It will not play Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs.
