This is not a question. It's more of an idea of mine which I would like some feedback on:
For the longest time, I have always felt this idea, but I only recently have I fully grasped it mentally. It is the idea that emotions and logic are always contradicting each other. Soldiers in war who see a comrade fall out in the open of gunfire must decide whether to do the logical thing and stay where it’s safe, or go with their emotions and run out to try and save him. Young couples who are so overwhelmed with emotions tend to stop thinking about anything else at all. But is there a right and a wrong? As you may have seen in movies most people who are very smart tend to be without much emotion, as they view everything, including people, from a logical standpoint. Which in most cases is a good thing because sometimes, good decisions can only be made when all emotion is removed and everything is viewed for the pros and cons. But emotion on the other hand, when channeled properly, can lead to some amazing things to. It is why athletes listen to music before a big competition. To get them pumped, to get their emotions flowing towards a goal. It’s why you see in movies and life, the person with more emotion, the one who has the more desire to win, often does win. He is able to see past all logical deductions to do whatever it takes to win, no matter what the cost. So my conclusion? It takes logic to make good decisions and emotion to do things that are illogical. But if you can channel all emotion into logical decisions, there is no goal that cannot be achieved.
