Heat loss help?

would a wet animal or a dry one lose more heat? explain?

  1. The wet animal will lose more heat.

    Because water cools it up and then minimizing the hotness of the wet animal. So, that animal is said to be much losing heat.

  2. a wet animal would lose more due to the effects of heat transfer to the water, then the resulting heat loss due to evaporation. that is the whole point behind sweating.

    air also has better insulating properties than does water, which transfers heat readily.

    if we are talking mammal, then the body hairs act as a method of trapping a layer of air next to your body, keeping it warmer (reason for goosebumps). that is what wind chill is all about....

    if you are wet, you will lose latent heat due to evaporation as well as diminished  piloerection (hair raising).
