Schalke Director of Sport Horst Heldt wants to shun the striker’s exit talks by offering him a new contract soon.
The chief claimed that Huntelaar is a vital part of the team and it is the club’s priority to keep him despite reported interest from some of the top European clubs. He admitted that the club will hold talks with the striker as
soon as possible and tie him down for the future to calm interest from other clubs in Europe.
The Dutch international has been in staggering form this season and has found the net on 25 occasions in all competitions this season and is only second to Mario Gomez in the leading scorer’s chart in the league with 14 goals.
Heldt admitted that it will be the club’s utmost priority next year to convince Huntelaar to sign a new contract with the club as he a very important player to the team. He admitted that there are teams showing interest in signing
the former Real Madrid striker because of his sterling form in this campaign.
The Director added that the Dutchman’s previous poor stints with Los Blancos and AC Milan could be an advantage for Die Knappen as some teams would prefer not to sign him considering his form in the Spanish and Italian leagues.
“We want to bind it to us prematurely beyond 2013, when Klaas-Jan continues to play so, probably come from inquiries world-clubs. But he has done at Real Madrid and AC Milan with negative experiences. This could be our advantage,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Heldt also admitted that the club will try to lure Raul to extend his contract for another year and revealed that the negotiations will take place in January next year. He played down rumours that the striker is set to join a club
in Qatar.
“There is no trend, we speak only in January. I do not think he will go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 has played a long time to earn money. He will not go anywhere without a family, she decides with his future,” he concluded.
