did any one know her? i am looking for her obit., she was my grand mother. died in 1994 of Cancer. i do not know too much. but i am looking up some family history on behalf of my own curiosity

    CASLER, HELLEN D.

    STORY CITY, Iowa -- Hellen D. Casler, 85, of Story City, died April 11, 2004 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Hellen was born August 10, 1918 in Ithaca, N.Y. to Glen and Jennie (Spears) Drake. She married Maynard M. Casler on September 5, 1940. She and her husband owned and operated Misty Hills Staple in Troy, N.Y. She grew up in Ilion, N.Y. and moved to Story City in 2002. She enjoyed traveling, the ocean, and gardening. She was a good artist, seamstress and cook. Hellen is survived by her husband, Maynard of Ravena, N.Y.; two daughters, Jill Colver (Gerald) of rural Roland and Jan Lukens of Ravena, N.Y.; five grandsons and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is handling arrangements. No services are planned at this time.

    Casler, Maynard M. RAVENA, N.Y. Maynard Casler of Ravena, died October 14, 2007. He was born May 31, 1918 in Middleville, N.Y. to Mary Jackson and George Casler. He graduated from Middleville High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a sales manager first for the J I Case Company, then for Howe Brothers in Center Brunswick, N.Y. for over 40 years. He and his wife Hellen owned and operated Misty Hills Stables in Center Brunswick where they bred, trained, boarded and showed horses for 45 years. He loved the world of horses and, even well into his 80s, could be found at the stables. He was named Horseman of the Year by the United Professional Horseman's Association, Chapter 14. He married Hellen A. Drake September 5, 1940 in Ilion, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his wife Hellen on April 11, 2004 and by his beloved dog, Duke. He is survived by daughters, Jan Lukens of Ravena, Jill Colver of Roland, Iowa and her husband Gerald; five grandsons, four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the home of Jan Lukens, Tracy Rd., Ravena.
