Okay, so I have been having several problems with my DVD player, but I finally changed the cable because the other one wasn't working, and now everything is okay except for the video. The picture is split in half, on opposite sides, Ill try to show you...

'__ __' when it should be __''__

Like the left half is on the right and the right half is on the left

Sorry if that's hard to understand :s

But also, there is sort of a space down the middle, which is probably not too important...

Can anyone help me, please?!?!

  1. What's happening to your DVD player is that the "Progressive Scan" video output is turned on when it shouldn't be.  Either you've connected to a non-HDTV or you've connected to to the non-HD inputs on an HDTV.

Either way, try turning off the "Progressive Scan" option on your DVD player.  There might be a switch on the back of the player, a button on the front of the player, a button on the remote, or you might have to navigate the DVD player's menu with a "split-screen" and deactivate the "Progressive Scan" video output.

  2. It would appear that your DVD video output section is somehow faulty. Or the input to the TV. Try another input if you have it our another video source to narrow down the culprit.

  3. It seems to me I have seen this problem before but I can't remember exactly what it was. What connection type are you using composite, S-Video, Component or HDMI for your video? Try using a different type of connection to see if you get the same thing. Check to see if your DVD player has a PAL/NTSC selection in the setup menu and make sure you have the right one selected (NTSC for US and PAL for Europe). List your model number for DVD player and TV.

The space down the middle will be cleared up when it is aligned properly.

  4. What happens when you connect the DVD Player to another TV does it do the samething? If it does then you need to replace that DVD Player. Or you could try to change the Pan-settings for the DVD player under setup and make sure it's Panning out right on the display.

    4:3-Pan

    16:9-Pan

Depends on what you have their for setup. Again if you have tried all the settings and you get the some effect then replace the DVD Player. But before you do that try the DVD Player on another set.
