  1. If you're inside, you can get a chain lock so they don't get in. To know if people get in your door, put a piece of tape on the top of the door connected to the frame. If you get back and it's been ripped, then you know they've come in.

  2. Most hardware stores sell 'hotel locks'  these are better than chains in that there is no chain to break.  If someone forces it open, they have to bust the door frame or at least bust the screws from the door frame.  But as in your previous answer, this is only good from the inside and bedroom doors, to lock from the outside you have to change the locks.

  3. Well, how many doors do they have access to?

The locks run about $7.00 each, and I think your peace of mind is worth way more than that, and look, they are real easy to install.

All your windows should always remain locked.

Go to a hardware store and describe the windows, or draw a sketch, so the clerk can help you.

    But yes, you need locks.

  4. If the windows are the same as in the link,

you can either put screws in the findow frame just above the bottom window so that it won't open without removing them from the inside

    or

place a peice of wood that is cut to fit between the top of the lower window and the top of the upper window.

About the doors, the only way to lock them from the outside would be with new locks.

  5. do not change the locks add deadbolt locks , its not hard get a hole boring kit at home depot and get the hole boring jig so you dont take any chances of messing up your door buy defiant brand deadbolts they are tough & cost effective
