Help! I'm getting a horse!?

Question

Alright. So, I'm a fourteen year old girl with four years of riding experience, and I'm getting a horse. But I've never bought a horse before, this would be my first one. I'm looking for a Western pleasure show horse WITH experience, and I dont know how to find good ones because I know online searches are not always the greatest. :] Me!

ok i have 4 horses and i would say look in a pony mag and remeber DO NOT  buy it with out riding the horse because it wouldnt be safe and make sure u get a real good go on it or ask some one in your horse riding school to see if any horses are for sale because u can mabe trust them and u would of rid him before , remeber looking after a horse is hard work and you have to get up very early in the morning i would advice you to have  a horse if your used to horses and if you like i could keep giving you some advice if u have got msn give it to me so i can help you with any thing you need to know plus  you have to know all the little bits to a horse . and its a big step to buy 1 ??i hope this helped

you could look in the newspaper or horseville.com, but don't just buy a horse check it out and ride it first before buying.

Maybe your riding instructor or barn manager could help you find a horse or at least accompany you when you go to see the horse to decide if you should buy it or not.  You really should have someone with you to walk you through buying a horse... someone who knows you and your riding and what type of horse would suit you.  You can do an initial search online to find horses in the area that you could then go look at.  Search websites like Equine.com and dreamhorse for a horse with a discipline of western pleasure... look for an older horse (absolutely nothing younger than 5... over 10 would be better) since they'll have more experience.  Those websites will let you search within your price-range too.  Definately find someone to help you with your horse buying process!  It's a big step to buy your own horse and you want to make sure that you get the right horse and you don't get it home and realize that you can't handle it.
