I was gonig to cook soup but I got distracted and left the pan on for a long time. When I remembered, the water had evaporated and the bottom of the pan turned BRIGHT orange. My mom is coming home soon and I don't know what to do. It is her favorite pan and I need a quick solution that will work. It is really burnt. HELP!!!!!

  1. leave it soaking in water and use oven bake

  2. just grab hold of your ankles with both hands say I am sorry 100 times and swear you will make it up to her..

    Ha Ha☺ ☺

Most likely (really? it was red hot ??) has to be an electric stove

It might scrub up ok but then it may be a lost cause..

Let your mom decide and you be a true penitent..

Pots and pans bought individualy can run in the $50 to $75

  3. Nothing is going to be a quick fix unfortunately. I'm sure we've all done that a time or two. After the pan cooled, I've used my dishwasher powder to clean it. I put it in the pan with water and heated the water to just boiling then let it sit on the stove overnight. The burnt stuff came off the next day. The pan is a bit discolored, but is still good to use.

  4. The best way to get anything caked on, off the bottom of the pan is to boil if off...

half way with water and boil it off.

  5. If it was a non-stick pan, it has to be replaced. The Teflon/whatever will flake into food.

If it wasn't a non-stick, it may be alright if you did not put the hot pan in water. That would have warped the pan. Let it cool and check out the results.

No matter what it is- just tell you mom. She won't kill you. The worst thing she will likely do is make you pay to replace it. Get ready to do extra chores!

I don't think there is anyone that has cooked for a long time that has not done something like you have. Just be glad you didn't burn down the house. That really would have pissed off your mom!  In the future set the timer whenever you are cooking anything. Have it go off at the time you think you may need to check on it just as a reminder to walk away from whatever you are doing and check on your pot. I've been cooking since I was a little girl- and I still do that. Heck, I'm boiling eggs right now- my timer is set just in case I get so wound up in helping you that I forget about my lunch.

  6. You didn't tell us what the pan is made of... stainless steel, aluminum, or porcelain enamel.  But whatever you do.. do not pour water on/in it until it cools down.  It will spatter and steam and give your face a nasty burn.  Sorry, no quick fix available.  you have to let that thing cool down first.

  7. Put a drop or 2 of detergent in the pan and add some water. Heat to a boil and then turn it off. Let it soak for a while and then pour it out and scrub it. Add a little more dish soap if neccesary. Repeat with the boiling and evrything if needed.

But you should still tell your mom about it, she may have some tips as to how to fix the situation.

  8. if its a stainless steel pan, you can scrub it off with steel wool, but it takes a while, if its anything else, you are kinda screwed, sorry.

  9. Let the pan cool down then fill with water to cover the burned area and add a little dish detergent and heat the water to a boil.  Watch it carefully!  Sometimes reheating will break up the burnt stuff.

  10. just tell her what happened. maybe she will understand

  11. Try washing it wit a bounce fabric softner sheet, only use a little water , if it dosen't work try soaking it for a couple hours with a bounce sheet in water. Hope it works for you!

  12. not a thing you can do other than replace it for her. your young, you make mistakes with cooking, it happens.
