Question:

Help - Lost contact lens case? Urgent.?

Ahh...ok, so I live with my dad during the week and with my mom during holodays and weekends. I'm at my mom's and I've realized that I left my contact lens case at my dad's...it's 1:00am and it's about 2 hours away, and all the drug stores are closed. Obviously, I need to take them out...to top it off, I'm on my last pair of lenses so I can't damage them. Any suggestions? The best we can think of is to like sterilize a couple of glasses/dishes with alcohol, rinse with water, rinse with solution, and put the contacts there for the night with plastic wrap or something over the top. Is that safe? If not, any better ideas?

  1. ok depending on your contacts some are ok to sleep in as long as you dont make it a regular occurance. in situations like this then i do tell my patients to just try it and make sure you put drops in your eyes in the morning.

if you have solution there then stick them in a glass of that NOT anything else like water etc.

  2. Since they are soft lenses, just slide them off the color of your eye onto the white above. Sleep with them there. They won't hurt that part of your eye.Tomorrow slide them back onto the color and go get your case and solutions.

  3. Ignore that poster above me. You NEVER ever sleep with them! They can irritate your eyes and cause infections. You're literally suffocating them if you do so.

Your idea seems like a possibility but there could be germs/bacteria on them. You never let your contacts or anything used for them touch tap water - there are germs there which are harmful.

You can try using boiling water to sterilise the glass and then let it air dry then rinse with the solution before using them.
