Help ! My weedeater is acting weird?

I have a Troybilt Bronco TB70SS weed eater and i was using it 7-29-08 and theni broght it on to the porch alittle later and then i wanted to start again and i changed the string and i put more gas+oil in it and it was almost to the top and i put the cap back on and tried to start it , it would go for like 3 seconds and shut off .what can i do?

  1. Try pouring some of the gas/oil back into the can. The gas cap allows air into the tank and you may have created a vacuum situation by putting in too much gas. Or the vent on the gas cap might have gotten clogged if you tipped the unit on end to change the string. You can try cleaning it (the gas cap) in clean gas or some other solvent.


  2. check the choke check the primer bulb if it cracked it wont run well, also check the fuel lines for cracks, if these check out clean the carb and air filter

  3. Also make sure there is not to much oil in the fuel, try putting plain gas in it and see if it will run, if it does find a way to dilute the oil gas mixture in the can you may need two gas cans, if it does not run on strait gas you may need to take it to a dealer for repairs.
