I Had Been Away For The Weekend, And Left My Sister Looking After My Hamster, When I Got Back I Noticed That My Hamster Had Been Bleeding, Because There Was Blood Around Her Bottom Area, But I Never Saw The Blood Actually In Her Bum. It Looked As Though She Had Cleaned It All Up, Then This Morning It Looks Like She Has Bled More. What Shall I Do, There Are No Vets Near By, And I Dont Have A Car, Or Anyone To Take Me! Please Help, She Is Two And A Half Years Old! x

  1. 2 and a half years .. thats really good for a hamster .. unfortunatly i dont think yahoo answers will be able to diagnose your hamster :( the best hope is to take it to the vet, but since thats not really an option for you, lets hope it gets better :) and if it doesnt, god forbid, then remember that it lived a good long life for a hamster .. good luck!

  2. I don't know what could be causing that.  Have a look at her feaces.  If they are softer than usual then do not feed her any fresh food or treats (just stick to the dry hamster mix) until they have got better.  She should see a vet about the blood but if you can't then maybe call the vet they are often willing to give a little free advice on the phone.  You could just say you want to know if you should bring her in (even if you know you can't).  Two and a half is the upper end of an average hamster's life expectancy so it maybe near the end.  Just make sure she is comfortable and has easy access to her water and food from her bed and has enough peace and quiet.

  3. Two and a half years old is the beginnings of old age for a hamster, so you're more likely to see things go wrong right now. I know how you feel, as I just recently lost a hamster of my own.

You really should take her to a vet, but if it's absolutely not possible... they do have some remedies you can purchase at the store. Have you noticed what her stools look like lately? If she has had diarrhea then she may have a bad case of wet tail, which can be deadly. If you go to a pet store they usually have liquid you can add to their water to try and get them better... but this is a last resort if you can't reach the vet.

    Good luck with her!

  4. ah yes most definitely your sister has done something bad to your hamster. mhm! rub some antiseptic on your hamster and pray.
