Next semester is coming up, and I am really nervous about the first day of school and the subsitude days because I am afraid the teacher couldn't pronounce my name and the whole class will laugh at me. That's what happened last year, I was thought as the weird asian girl with a name no one could pronounce even though I have great personality. I want next year to be different. I want enjoy the semester and have lots of friends. I am getting my name changed about one year later. But for now, can you please give me some advice and help me with the coming up semester.

everybody already know me as alice, but they still laugh when the teacher couldn't pronounce my name, and the teachers know me as alice too, but they don't know that's my real name on the attendance sheet. please don't say something like be proud of your name or you just have to take it.

  1. I had enough trouble with my second name so I know the feeling.  Talk to your teacher and say that you would rather be called Alice than your real name.  My mate's real name is Susan but has always been Laura and on the register has always been Laura.  Anyway, let everyone know you are Alice, people don't have to know your real name and make a point of having it on the register as Alice.  Otherwise, when people laugh. laugh with them.  They'll have worse problems than you, and believe me when you leave school it'll be so much better.

  2. talk to the teacher alone and tell him

  3. See if you can get to class early and talk to your teacher about your concern and teach them the correct way to pronounce your name.Good luck to you.

  4. I'm a teacher. We had a 9th grader at our school last year. Super girl but her name was a mouthful for us. She went by an Americanized name that was easy to pronounce. That is the start. I would suggest you try to get to the teacher before class starts or during orientation and explain the problem and give your teachers your name as "Alice". Another way is to go to the school office with your parents and request your name be put on the school rolls as Alice followed by your full name. But still make sure your teachers know ahead of time.

Your fear is not unusual and it doesn't just happen to Asians. Some teachers are idiots and intentionally mispronounce names for a laugh. So, good luck. I feel your pain.
