Apparently last year my 13-year-old downloaded a video game over the internet. Now I have received a letter from the copyright holders charging me £565.00 otherwise I will have to go to Court. What should I do? Can they really hold me accountable for what my 13-year-old does, every minute of everyday?

  1. Having read previous news articles about this, apparently you are being held responsible as the broadband connection is in your name, therefore you should make sure that whoever uses it only uses it legally. Harsh I know, but that's what I've read. You can refuse to pay, but it's likely that the company will take this further through the Courts. If you subsequently lost, you could be liable for their costs which would run into thousands.
