Help! Robo Hamsters!

Question

We have four 5-week-old baby robo hamsters and i was wondering at what age are you able to s*x them and seperate them and at what age are they sexually mature? Somebody said they sexed theirs at 4 weeks, but right now we can't even pick them up! There too fast and we're really not supposed to be touching them so when will we be able to get a good look down there?

well normally 5 weeks and older well thats when i started picking mine up and that is when i seperated mine and i took mine to the vet to be sexed hope this helped !!!!!!!!!! =)

You should be sexing them immediately since baby hamsters can become sexually mature from the 5th week onwards. And your information on not touching them is wrong. You can touch them from 3rd week onwards and you can separate them from the mother from 4th week onwards since by then they would have started feeding on solid food and completely weaned away from their mother.

Use a pair of gloves to pick them up and sit on the floor while doing it so that even if they get out of your hands, they do not fall down and hurt themselves. If you are still not sure how to pick them up, put a tall glass cup into the cage near them for each one, it would definitely get in to investigate, take out the glass and examine the hamster's underside to s*x it.

We get robo hamsters- I work in a pet shop- in at six weeks.

So they're fine to be handled, you just need to do it in a controlled way.

They're sexually mature from four weeks, so you may be in trouble.

Roborovski's reach sexually maturity when they are 5 weeks old.

21 days is a good age to seperate the males from the females (the earliest age as when you can touch the pups is 18 days old).

five weeks is old enough so you can sort them now : ) some hamsters can be sexually mature at 28 days. hope i helped!

edit: im gonna list a few sites for you on how to tell if they are a boy or girl. one is a pic and one just tells you. hope i could help you! you should start sexing them now or they will breed with each other : p

It's time already.

I know Robo hamsters are difficult to s*x.

Hold them by the scruff of their neck.

Then lift them up and check, but they are too young and it will be very difficult to s*x them....but they are sexually mature by now.

Make sure grip is not too hard when you lift them by holding the scruff of their neck...they will eventually struggle and then stay still or play dead.

OR

Separate each of them and place them in a transparent container.

Then look from below the surface to check...but they'll move around making it difficult to understand.

If you can't do that, then take help from a vet or a professional breeder...pet stores often make mistakes sexing hamsters.

You can handle them now...don't worry, it's safe.

But since they are tiny, they'll be difficult to handle..they are fast and squeeze out somehow!
