Help backing up my itunes?

i am going to put everything on an external hard drive and clean out my computer cause its struggling right now. how is the best way to back up my itunes? once i tried to transfer the library folder to my new computer and it didnt work. also, i dont know if my itunes folder is organized because sometimes i make weird decisions and dont remember. is there a way to organize and sync it easily? thanks!

  1. well locate your iTunes music folder and see if the music files are stored there.

    my sister has iTunes and she always asks for help, but I can never find her d**n songs - the actual file locations. This is why I hate apple.

  2. Although I don't really like itunes very much, it is extremely easy to backup your music to an external hard drive and organize it while doing that. First go to edit>preferences>advanced and then change your itunes folder location to a new empty folder on your external hard drive. Then press ok and go to advanced>consoidate library. This will take a little while as it will take all the music on your hard drive and copy it into the folder on your external hard drive and organize it for you. It is now safe to delete the music off your hard drive as you will still beable to access it as long as the external hard drive is plugged in however I would buy another external hard drive, move your music onto that, unplug it, and store it somewhere safe that way you will have a backup of your music if you delete it off your hard drive.
