help I having a huge issue with a birds nest right now! I 'm being trapped in my house! I can NOT leave without being attacked and hit by these two birds. They have a nest with babies near by. My mailcarrier has stopped delievery because its gottin out of hand.

Do I remove it or wait for the babies to leave the nest. I'm terrified to even think about the poor sap I have trying to move it, being hurt.

Any other ways to help! Please let me know!

  1. Call your local animal control.  Some are more helpful than others but they might come out and remove the nest for you.

  2. This is very common with certain breeds of birds. Bluejays are the worst because they are a fairly large songbird (if you can call a jay a "songbird" lol) and can do some damage. You have to remove the nest, baby birds, eggs or whatever's inside it, too. Call your local wildlife rescue or humane society  to see if they will help remove it. If they won't help, call an exterminator. You can legally move this nest because the birds are causing a nuisance and possibly injury. Have the exterminator carry the nest to the nearest wild area of a park, put it somewhere that may be safe, and let the parent birds deal with it. Sorry, I don't put up with this kind of c**p from wildlife that interferes with my everyday life. I'm a humane person, but I have my limits.

    regards, Koo

P.S. You have to remove the nest or they will just repopulate it. Also, put something there to block them from re-building it.

  3. Sorry, but Mama and Daddy are protecting their kids.  As soon as the babies leave the nest then take the nest down.

  4. Sorry, it would be illegal for you to remove this nest, all wild native birds are protected by law. (Migratory Bird Treaty Act) If there are already chicks in the nest, it should not be long now before they leave.  Really, these tiny little birds can do no real harm to you, just do not linger by the nest..but you can still go about your business entering and exiting. Use a back door if available. You might try using an umbrella when you leave and enter, so this way, your head is protected.

  5. OK! You'll need safety gear. Goggles protective helmet, gloves, long heave-duty shirt and pants, and something to protect your face. Grab the nest and move it to a near by tree, away from your house, maybe in some woods and carefully place it on a tree.

Or if you want revenge, smash the eggs in the road or you'll have a family of annoying bird for the rest of the year. The parents will soon fly away shortly after.

  6. It is natural instict of birds (and even animals to protect their eggs or chicks and they do whatever possible by them to do so. So try your exit from other door if possible. Or you can exit/enter with some kind of protection to your face mainly.

  7. Wren's raise more than one bunch a summer, don't worry it won't last long and they will be gone.  Use your side or back door.  Talk to your mail carrier about leaving the mail somewhere else for a few days. (after two weeks the hatchlings leave the nest)

The wren is a great bird for eating insects!

  8. You will have to stay away from the nest as much as possible.

  9. theres nothing you can do to be honest. buy a hard hat or something. cauase if u move the nest they will more than likely abandon it so please dont touch it, you will just have to wait till they fledge or just run past em

  10. I have heard that if you hang lot  of old cds outside then they will get scared but i dk if that is true cuz i have also heard that birds like shiny things! But you can take a broom or something long to chase them! this used to happen when my gramma and grammpa would take the nests out of the trees. But that is wat my uncle would do just take a broom outside and shoo them away with it! it works for us!Good luck with the birds!!! :-)
