  1. if you are going to do cage fighting in the future, you need at least boxing, muai thai, and bjj, also it is worth while to do mma training classes. So, if they are paying for it, and the trainer or coach is good, then, take it and learn more skills. Don't worry about getting them mix up. The more skills you have the more choices weapons you have in fighting.

  2. If they are forcing you to do this, and paying for it, then you should make the best of the situation.  5 months isnt a long time in a MA, and you should be able to keep some aspects of the Muay Thai.

Tell your parents that choosing a Martial Art (or MMA gym) is like buying a house (or a TV(dad) or a wedding ring (mom).  Price does matter very much, and you will be "living in or with it" for a very long time.  Many times (not always) you get what you pay for in Martial Arts.  If you are really serious about not leaving, then you need to press the matter with your parents.  Tell them that you are willing to do whatever is necessary to keep going to that school.  IE, more chores, get a part time job (mowing or something like that).  If you show that it means that much to you, they may re-consider.

    Good Luck

  3. i agree with the person above.

maybe even talk to the person in charge of the gym, tell him whats happening, he may cut u a little discount.  thats a shot in the dark though but hey it can help.

    or ride your bike

  4. Sorry to hear that you have to switch gyms, but learning some traditional boxing will only help when it comes to your striking.  There is a difference between Muay thai and Boxing, but there is also a difference between Muay Thai and MMA striking.  The spacing, timing, stance are all a little different because of the different elements coming at you in MMA.  Hopefully every now and then you can get back to your thai gym to keep up your skills, but you shuld have some folks that have some decent thai skills at an MMA gym so why there may not be a Thai specific class, I am very sure they will implement thai techniques into the MMA training.  Just make sure that you train hard and try to improve a little each day.

  5. If the gym you join is a good one then the BJJ class should have some insight on wrestling and mma.  You want to train in many different fighting arts.  That is why they call it mixed martial arts.  What happens if you get a guy who is a really good ground and pound.  You need BJJ skills.  Or what if you get a golden gloves champion boxer.  You need basic boxing skills to defend yourself.  Muay tai is good to know for conditioning your body for pain and kicks.  Mixing things up is never a bad idea.  Take in as much as you can and never slack.  Trust me.
