Help for strep throat?

about three months ago i got strep throat and they had prescribed me antibiotics but they made me seriously sick the first night i took them. now once again i have strep and i really dont want the antibiotics and to get seriously sick again. right now my strep isnt as bad as it was last time, but it is feeling like its going to get worse. Is there anything i can do to get better without taking antibiotics and getting seriously sick the first night???

i always drink lots of fluids, and eat soup.. coffee/hot choc.. just stuff that feels soothing, and get plenty of rest..,and if its cold in your house, make sure you bundle up, that always worked for me...

Yes it is good that you are looking for a better strategy to cure your problem. Relaxation is very important, no smoking, and early to bed.

Try slow equal breathing which involve breathing in and out for five seconds each way without consticting your airway, then do it for 50 rounds while laying flat in bed no pillow. It is quite difficult but you have to concentrate really well. Everytime your thoughts wander off bring it back to the task of equal breathing. I use this exercise a lot and it nearly always works or reduces the problem substantially. While doing it relax your body deeply into the bed. Yes it sounds simple but it helps the immune system do its job - really!  John

      There are people that are intolerant to antibiotics, I am one of them, out of perhaps fifty antibiotics tested I am intolerant to forty nine of them. I almost died from them because they waited to long in testing for them when I had cellulites.

      Tell the doctor how ill you became and ask him to test you for the intolerance to antibiotics so you'll know in the future. My daughter is also intolerant to antibiotics, it's good to know.

you cant get antibiotics injected as a shot instead or taking them by mouth. you arent allergic to them if youre only getting sick. so next time, or now, talk to your doctor about getting the injections. its bicillin or rocephin. good luck!
