Help me choose tattoo designs please!?

Question

I am having trouble coming up with a tattoo (symbol, picture, drawing, shape,etc.) that represents "I'm the light of my own life".

Also, I want a tattoo that represents my first born. He is a boy. I was thinking something like his name inside a star shape, inside a heart... like he is the star of my heart... can you help me with these???

Oh!!! and where should I put them, I was thinking the light one on the top of my foot, and the second one... actually, I don't know where, but NOT on top of my heart!

ohh yah thats a great idea for your first born! i might do that also, im having a girl in about 2 months.. her names going to be Crystal Lin!!

For your second tattoo you should get a silhouette of a person with a sun surrounding on the silhouette in the background.. and around the body it would say "I'm the light of my own life".

Pheonix birds basically rise from their own ashes. I think it a great synmbol of rebirth and being self dependant. Maybe a really colorful pheonix on your upper shoulder. As far as your son, why not just get his face, or if he is of writing age have him write out his own name and tattoo his signature on your wrist. Or you can get his hand print on your chest (over your heart) or even his lip prints on you so you will alway have kisses from your son!

For your son: stars and hearts are so overdone. I think you could get his footprints from when he was a baby that is always neat. or get a portrait done of him. you could get them on your shoulder or arm.

Tattoos are very personal things. You should know exactly what you want and where, if only because they will have special meaning to you and only you. If you don't know what you want, you shouldn't be considering one.

I recommend coming up with a design on your own, and getting the help of an artistic friend to make at least a rough sketch of it, so that you can present your idea on paper to the tattoo artist.

Wow - I have several tattoos, but I knew exactly what I wanted and where I wanted it.  For some reason, this question makes me a little bit leery........

hmm for the light of your own life i first thought... those old oil lamps or a lantern. or an old candle and holder (like the one you always see scrooge holding in the christmas carol movie)

as for your son... i think a shooting star wrapping around a heart would be great.

i think the inside of your ankle for both is a good idea. keep them close together

for the light one i was thinking of a lantern but without a light inside its a heart and it has a yellow tone to the outside of the lantern like its shining.
