What is this suppose to mean?

explain please :[

The whole thing goes like this:

"From my grandfather Verus [i learned] good morals and the government of my temper...

"from my grandfather verus[i earned] good morals and the goverment of my temper.." when put with everything in this qoute, goverment of my temper means the things that you also learned from your temper or the times that you are mad at something you learned to overcontrol your temper. goverment of my temper also means the thing in your mind that makes you mad or angry. note; your question is a bit hard to answer.
