  1. take him to the vets

  2. hes probably only a baby so will not be used to you handling him just yet. He will be wriggly untill he gets used to you. Start off slowly holding him close to the ground incase he jumps/falls.

How is the other guinea pig? He should have a companion.

If he is ill his eyes will be droopy and he will look limp and unresponsive.

    good luck with your pig

  3. He hasn't got used to you yet.Or perhaps you have other animals. They are easily frightened.Try to pick him up anyway and then hold him and gently stroke his fur to reassure him that he doesn't need to be scared.

  4. Since he's new, of course it's normal! He's probably still under stress from moving from the pet store (or where ever you got him) to his new home. Eventually, when he's settled down, show him that you are a nice person.

Feed it treats and hang out by the cage! He'll arm up to you if you are nice to it. If you get to the point where you can even pet him, then you should slowly take the advantage of trying to pick him up.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  5. Max probably just needs time to adjust. Is he eating and drinking? does he appear to be in pain? Keep an eye on him and don't just lunge in and grab him, no one likes that. assuming he is in good health, he will warm up to you. Be patient.

  6. ur pig is probably scared. i meen ur pig is scared!

this is normal with new pigs. i al;so just got another pig a few days ago. well ive been handeling her alot since i bought her and she seems to be a bit like a tiny tiny bit nicer and tame!

just stay patient! this does take time! so handel him daily and talk to him let him smell your hands and try to hand feed him. my pig that ive had for 2 years now knows my voice when i call his name. see! taming pigs can be done! it will probably happen with u and ur pig!

    hope this helps!

good luck with taming ur piggy wiggy!

  7. Guinea pig are prey animals. FOr the first few days (or maybe even more) or pig may be skittish. Pigs also have very bad eyesight, so when your hand goes into his cage, it startles him. He is unaware that you mean him no harm. Over time your guinea pig will get use to your voice and scent, so you should let him smell you and talk to him before you go into his cage. Even if your guinea pig remain skittish for as long as you have him, it doesn't mean he is afraid of you or doesn't want to be held. When you try to pick him up and he runs away, don't take it to heart, it's just what piggies do.

    best of luck

  8. Yes, this is completely normal. Guinea Pigs usually take a little while to get used to you. My guinea pig took one and a half weeks to be held. Slowly pick him up. Make sure you hold him atleast once a day so that he will get used to you picking him up. If it helps, try putting a treat in your hand and have him follow the treat to the door of the cage. Then pick him up as he eats the cage.

    Good Luck!

    Hope this helps=)

  9. He is fine don't worry!

He is settling in to his new home.   He may hide a lot too.

Just give him 1 or 2 more days.   You might have to chase him around with your hands sometimes.

  10. normal http://www.guinealynx.info/healthycavy.h...

  11. they are very shy jumpy creatures until they get used to you.. gently stroke him rather than go to pick him up, it takes a little time.

  12. Completely normal.

I got a new guinea pig a few weeks ago and she is still scared.

Try feeding him timothy hay (alfalfa) with your hand

make sure he has an igloo of some sort so he can have a sense of security and if he runs in there either try to get him to come out with timothy hay or if you try that just leave him so he can get use to his surroundings. If he likes to climb then maybe get him a platform to climb on to.

  13. he is scared of you wait like 1 week but for a while sit by the cage and he will get used to you same thing happened with my new birds

  14. yes thats normal.

You will need to hold him daily so he gets used to you.

He will be frightened of you thats all.

He will get used to be handled in time.
