The endpoints of two segments are given. Find each segment length. tell whether the segments are congruent ..

1. AB: A (2,6), B (0,3)

CD: C ( -1,0), D (1,3

  1. i think you use the distance formula, im not sure but it could be right.  


  2. to find length of segment, find as follows

    we have A(2,6) and B(0,3)

    so AB=(under root (3-6)^2+(0-2)^2)

    =>AB=(under root (9+4) )

    =>AB=(under root (13) )

    hence length of segment AB is ,

    AB= under root 13  (Answer)

    ( sorry i cannot use under root symbol so  i write under root in place of symbol)

    similarly we can find length of CD

    CD= under root ((3-0)^2+(1-(-1))^2)

    CD= under root (13)  (Answer)

    CD= under root (13) (Answer)

  3. A(2, 6) → B(0, 3):

    x1 = 2

    y1 = 6

    x2 = 0

    y2 = 3

    Δx = x2 - x1

    Δx = 0 - 2

    Δx = -2

    Δy = y2 - y1

    Δy = 3 - 6

    Δy = -3

    L² = Δx² + Δy²

    L = √(Δx² + Δy²)

    L = √[(-2²) + (-3²)]

    L = √(4 + 9)

    L = √13

    L = 3.61

    Sove for slope:

    m = Δy / Δx

    m = -3 / -2

    m = 3/2

    x1 = -1

    y1 = 0

    x2 = 1

    Δy = 3 - 0

    Δy = 3

    L = √(Δx² + Δy²)

    L =  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚ˆÂš[(1 + 1)² + 3²]

    L = √(4 + 9)

    L = √13

    L = 3.61

    m = Δy / Δx

    m = 3/2

    Their lengths and slopes are the same. Therefore, they are congruent.
