Help please... with computer programs?

I have this old laptop computer. i tried to open a file that i made with a windows 2000 MS publisher...It said that with what program i want to open a file because there is no publisher in this old laptop..

i tried to choose MS word but when it opened it cannot be read.

After that one i tried to see in windows explorer and my publisher file already have the MS word icon..

i tried to rename it and put .pub

my question is when i will open it in Windows 2000 will it be shown as a MS publisher document ??

its not about the os - its about the software.

It sounds like Publisher is not installed on the second machine. if its not installed you wont be able to open the file on the machine.

On the first machine, (where you made the document) go to file-> save as and see if there's a format there that is useable on the second machine. If so, save it in this format.

if the version of msoffice on the other machine is newer you can save it as an older version. You can down-scale it to any previous version so that it is compatible with the version on the old machine.
