Help with Toddler lesson plan

Hey everybody! I have an interview tomorrow morning with a private daycare for the position of lead toddler teacher! Yay!

The director wants me to prepare a short, like 30 minute lesson plan. I was thinking doing some sort of interactive book with the children.

Does anybody have any better ideas? Oh, and the children will be between 18 and 24 months. Any helpful information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance :o)

  1. My toddler loves to read books, I mean look at it when I read it for her...

One could be reading, drawing, painting... talking list is asking questions

My toddlers fav is show n tell

Where child picks anything anything toy or a book or anything they like n they have to stand in front of the class n talk about it

    SHOW AND TELL..

    Good luck with your interview

  2. How about a book like "mouse paint" where the little mice jump in and out of the paint cups? You get to talk about colors and numbers.

You can follow it up later with fingerpainting (or bucket painting if you want to stay clean) to address the sensory-motor and experiencial aspects of toddler learning.

"Give a mouse a cookie"  leads into cookie baking or decorating paper cookies.

  3. well your idea is great. you can also integrate lesson of shapes + colors , you can use a non toxic clay since kids like playing and learning at the same time.. :)

    good luck

  4. Or try music -

introduce them to a variety of untuned percussion instruments - teach their names - triangle, maracas, tambourine, tambour, bells, etc.

    Sing I am a Music Man -

    I am a music man

I come from far away and I can play....

    I play the tambour...

    (kid plays)

    and so on

til you play the orchestra! They all play.

Your idea of interactive book session is excellent anyway- just good luck!
