Question:

Help with baby boy names???

Was NOT expecting a boy, but am thrilled. Not sure where to even start. Last name is Miller. I like Jake but would love some more choices. Not too plain. Also, dad is from Scotland. Something a little unique would be nice. McKenna was our pick for a girl.

Thanks =o)

  5. Congratulations on your little boy! :-)

If McKenna was your choice for a girl and there's a Scottish connection on the fathers side, maybe another Mc name would be nice - Jake Mackenzie Miller or Mackenzie Jake Miller would both be cute names.

I'm Scottish, and there are some lovely traditional names to choose from that would sound nice with your surname including Cameron, Finlay and Menzies. It's worth browsing some Scottish baby name sites to see what takes your fancy.

One thing you might not have thought of - it's traditional here to use the mother's maiden name as the son's middle name,  so depending on your maiden name you could do that.  My husbands middle name is his mum's maiden name and everybody loves it, and because quite unusual to people not from Scotland it's a good talking point too.

    Have fun choosing a name!

  6. I love the name Jake.  It was one we considered.  Here are some thoughts:

    Jake Ryan Miller

    Jacob Seth Miller

    Shane Michael Miller

    Kyle Andrew

  7. I tend to like less traditional names so I don't know if you will like these.. but I like:

    Donovan

    Tobias

    KeShawn

    Julian

  14. If you don't want plain, then don't do anything common or trendy, such as names like the Aidan Family*. Keep in mind the Top 1000 names. And remember that a different spelling does not a different/unique name make. :)

With all of that said, I recommend:

    Abbott

    Abel

    Alastair

    Alcott

    Alden

    Arthur

    Axel

    Callaghan

    Cadvan

    Constantine

    Edwin

    Gideon

    Ishmael

    Jedidiah

    London

    Nigel

    Orion

    Rhys

    Simeon

    Sinclair

    Valentine

    Whitaker

    Wolfe

    Zebedee

    Zephyr

*The Aidan Family is as follows: Aidan, Braydon, Caidan/Keidyn, Greyden, Hayden, Jaden, Zaedynn. Spellings vary A LOT. You could come across ten Jadens and none of them would spell the name exactly the same way. For example:

    Jaden

    Jayden

    Jaiden

    Jaeden

    Jeiden

    Jadyn

    Jaedyn

    Jeidone

    Jahdynn

    Jeighdon

See what I mean? And add the gazillion beginnings A, Br, C or K, Gr, H, J, Z, and even M and Ch (both of which I have seen), it's the ultimate example of a trendy, unoriginal, and ridiculous name. And everyone who uses it thinks that they're the first one to do so. *headdesk*

  15. Jake

    Ari

    Liam

    Nehemiah

    Braeden

    Denny

    Stockton

  16. How about:

    Bishop

    Kentley

    Kenton

    Laiken

    Saxon

    Kendis

    Lincoln

    Hope this helps

  17. What about the Scottish name Lachlan? It's pronounced lock-lin, and it sounds really handsome.

    Here are some more suggestions:

Keegan, Sullivan, Finley, Alistair, Kane, Aiden*, Rowan, Sinclair, Kane, Brodie, Riley*, Alec, Maddox, Camden, Blaine, Callum, Maxwell, Mannix, Bryson, Collin, Bryn, Angus, Brendan, Conner, Liam, Jace, Chase, Declan, Cormac, Noah, Callahan, Ronan, Durmot, Cody, Murray, Eamon, Evander, Grady, Evan, Graham, Bennett, Ryan, Rhodri, Teague, Parker, Colman,

    * I think that these names sort of match with McKenna, but they are quite popular.

  18. Andrew Jake Miller

    Jake Ryan Miller

    Ryan James Miller

    Jack Andrew Miller

    xx

  19. Justin

    Braison

    Roy

    Trace

    Brandon

    Gerett

    Julius

    Parker

    Congratulations!  I hope this helped!
