We installed hardwood floors about 3 years ago. I believe its pergo. It's not the shiny kind. Well it seems like the floor has water damage on some spots. There are areas that have turned black as if it has been burnt. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

  1. Sand it. You'll have to sand a large area around  the damage to help blend the stain when you refinish it.

After completely removing the stained part, choose a good wood stain that matches the rest of the floor. You will want to have a spot to test this color, I would suggest a place close to the wall and under something. If the stain is the wrong color, you can alter the color a bit and try again.

Wipe on the stain, (I use an old sock) and wait at least 8 hours for it to dry.

I use 2 coats of a good deck and spar varnish for the finish coat. If you take care and not get into a hurry, you will have a beautiful repair job.
