Can anyone tell me what is the interpretation of Goya"s paintings "The dog", "Men and two woman laughing" & "Reading" from his series of Black paintings? I have problems with their interpretation and fitting them with other paintings from that series. THANK YOU!

  1. Dog: There are infinity of interpretations of this painting, associating to the dog to the infernal figure that guides the dead souls to the h**l, and suggesting it as a symbol of the abandonment and the neglect. the dog itself is, adrift and alone, caught in a current that sweeps us uncontrolled through our own misconceptions of our world.

Men and two woman laughing: a model for Manet, is a painting with mysterious shadowy figures and very theatrical lighting

Reading: We cannot see what the men are reading. The men are generally considered to be politicians, reading a newspaper (an article about themselves?), but it is unclear where this explanation originated.
