So I'm taking Photo this semester. So basically, I'm really new with it. We have to bring in a film camera if we have one, and it has to be 35mm. I'm not sure how to check, does anyone know? All I know, is it's the size of the film(I think anyway).

  1. Look on craigslist for 35 mm SRL cameras ... you can find good used Nikon and Canon cameras with a standard zoom lens for under $200, many time closer to between $50 and $100

Avoid buying any camera you cannot hold in your hands,  test and look for dents before handing over your money.  Craigslist and your local camera stores are you best bet at present.

  2. the main thing to remember with cameras and memory situations is to have the number to the company where you bought it so that you can go there and deal with any trouble shooting issues concerning formatting the camera to either delete memory or reset memory.

  3. Although an old camera, the Pentax K1000 has long been considered the best student camera. 100% mechanical, it can be used without a battery, although one is needed for the meter. The K1000 with a 50mm f1.7 lens and the Owner's Manual will get you through your photography class.

Check these on-line sellers for prices and availability:

    http://www.adorama.com

    http://www.beachcamera.com

Of course you can also check with your local camera store (one that only sells cameras, not 10,001 other things and cameras) and your local craigslist.
