Help with my paradise gourami please!?!?!

Question

hi my paradise gourami last night his lip was kinda swelled up and pinish redish looking.and i thought he was maybe fighting with my dwarf gourami.

and my dwarf gourami as well lips are like that all of a sudden.

well just tonight i noticed my paradise gourmis one eye is swelled up MASSIVE.it is huge.

what is it.is it a fungus or something or a disease.

is he going to be ok or is he slowly suffering and dying.

is there anything ican do to help him.

please help!?!?!?!

It is very possible their lips are swollen from fighting, as Gouramis tend to lock lips when doing battle.  The bulging eye, since it appeared at the same time as the lip injuries, could also have been inflicted during fighting-- just as it would in humans, an injury will lead to swelling.  If it continues to swell, you may want to treat with Maracyn (1), EM Tabs, Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, or similar gram positive effective medications.  Be sure to remove any activated carbon from the filter during treatment.
