Help with my sony dscw55 camra?

i have a sony dscw55 camra i was playing round with it trying to find a mode so the flash don't come onn and i noticed when i tryed to take a photo it keeps saying recording and i don't have it on video mode i see a icon that looks like a eye i must put a option onn and don't know how to turn it off but what ever camra mode i put it onn when i try and take a photo it don't take a photo but records what have i done could someone please let me know how to turn it off what ever iv put onn thank you for your time and help many thanks
