Help with new school?

so im a junior in high school and today was my first day at my new high school and so obviously i dont know anybody and the classes are so much longer compared to my old school and everybody at this school seems to be like ghetto trash. there are no breaks at this school except for lunch but i feel so awkward at lunch and in class because i dont know anyone. any suggestions on how to cope with my surroundings because i really dont want to be here and i know its just the first day but i just dont like most of these people because theyre so immature and dont take anything seriously and for some reason want to be troublemakers because they think its cool, so i doubt ill make many friends here, so any suggestions on how to cope with my situation?

dont worry, there HAS to be someone who isn't totally ghetto trash, right? come on, maybe the nerds? any preps? just look for a friendly face in the crowd, put on a smile, and try to make a new friend. your obviously smarter and more mature than them, and it IS only two years. if you're college bound, then focus on your work and not the slums at your school. obviously its not a great situation and its not going to get much easier, but just remember not to fall to their level just because they will accept you and you will feel better. and 5 nerdy friends is better than 20 ghetto trash ones. don't forget that this is only two years of the rest of your life, and they mean more academically in the long run than they do socially, especially since it sounds like you know who you are. these are your last two years of high school make them worth it.

first off i know exactly where your coming from i started a new school last year maybe try and speak to them or maybe try and get them involved in something else im a shy kid but i tried to get certain people to explore different interests just try and be yourself and talk to them they might be weird now but you never know i learned you cant judge the first day because no one knows anyone yet you have to be around them longer before ou form an immediate opinion this is the best thing i can think of at the moment but im familiar with your situation

Don't stick to the people in your classes! try sitting with someone you think is nice...don't focus on things you don't have in common focus on what u Do have in common.....hope i helped!
