Help with some 2008 events!!?

I need some ideas to help me write a report on some events that happened this year. What are some good events that happened in 2008. Make sure there real and not just fake. I don't want lousy events too like what happened to your life. They need to be world wide or at least country wide

Olympics in China.... biiiiig controversy there...

War between Georgia and Russia

American Elections

Euro 2008 (for soccer fans, of course) =)

War in Iraq but that's not really new...

I would write on the whole controversy on China and the olympics and whether or not they are respecting human rights with the freedom of speech, Tibet crisis, etc..
