Help with square roots?

i understand how to figure them out but i don't know how to show my work...it's the square root of 40, it's 6.3 but how do i show my work? thanks!

  1. -----√40

    -------------√4√10  --- find the highest perfect root that equals 40 is 4.  (4X10= 40)                            

    another example √16---- √4√4 --- 2(2)= 4.

    --------------------------2√10  ---- 2 is the square root of 4

    --------------------------------------...  

    and find the square root of 10 and multiply it by 2.


  2. It's actually 2√10    

    see:

    √40 = √4 x √10

    √4=2, and the √10 is not a whole number, so answer is 2√10
