Okay, so, I'm doing a project on Russian Czars which is great and all, I find the concept intresting. However, I can't decide which czars to include and discuss/teach about to my class.

So my question is, which russian czars should I talk about?

[other then Ivan the Terrible! :-) ]

Thanks!

  1. Peter the great.

  2. Alexander I battled Napoleon.  Alexander the II freed the serfs and was assassinated.  (people don't live forever...)

Alexander II is very interesting, because he tried to do something for the people, and they killed him.

That is why Nicholas II stood firm against reform.

Catherine II, the Great is endlessly fascinating.  Peter the Great was, too.  Both were highly intelligent.

  3. Consider Peter the Second, Katherine the Great, and Nicholas the II.

  4. There's too much on Nicholas II, and you wouldn't be able to get a grip on it.  Take Catherine--her castles eventually became the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and she infused the Russian Empire with French ideals, language and customs.

  5. I agree with Rubiks.

Nicholas II had a most fascinating history in his 22+ yrs of leading Russia.

Studying about Nicholas II will teach you about the Russo-Japanese War, the 1905 Revolution, Bloody Sunday, World War One (WWI), the Bolshevik Revolution and and you'll learn about Vladimir Lenin (allegedly his murderer) and Gregori Rasputin.

I did a report on Russian Czars (several) many years ago and far and away Nicholas II was the most fascinating czar.

Best of Luck with your project.

  6. Nicholas II>> u can write a book on this guy. Why is he so interesting? Research Alexandra (his wife), Alexis (his son) and Rasputin (the supposed mystic healer). There were also too many turbulences and revolutions during this czars reign. If you're into westernization, definitely Peter and Catherine. Enjoy!!!!!

  7. Nicholas I, I believe he was called the reluctant Czar a few times.

  8. Peter the Great and Catherine the Great.

  9. Alexander the II. Allegedly freed the serfs, battled Napoleon and then got blown up by Lenin's brother
