  1. Buy them Easter dinner, cook and serve it.

  2. Maybe get them a $25 grocery store gift certificate, or ask them what foods they need, and bring them over a bad of groceries.

You can find items in sale, and not have to spend too much.

Here is a link to free grocery store coupons.

    I hope this helps!

  3. Invite them to church with you and then Easter dinner with your family.  Don't patronize them, by feeling sorry for them.  Be supportive and let the family know they you are there for them.

Watch for signs from the family.  They might need a hug or a tissue at a moments notice or, move the kids out if the mother looks like she's going to lose it.

Suggest a grieving group or counseling center to help the family emotionally.  If they can't afford counseling, generally counselors will offer services according to a person's income.

Offer to take the kids to a movie or to the park to allow the mom some time alone.

Continue to keep in touch with them after Easter, just so they know you care.

  4. Invite them over for Easter dinner.

"Marlos answer is the best though!"  Thumbs up!

  5. Personally I would make them an Early Easter Basket and make it Anonymous. I would include everything for their tradional dinner and perhaps a gift card to local grocery store. In the basket make a card and say something like "Some Bunny thinks you are special and wants you and your family to have a special dinner!" or whatever... sometimes it is easier to give annymously for relationship purposes... when they are home place on the front step and knock on the door and say that you had found this in front when you came to visit. (just time it so that they would't be right home!) hope this helps and it is a great thing you are doing!
