  1. Hey Zoe, listen get ya an old plug for your first horse, learn to ride basic riding any way you can either by just time in the saddle or an instructor or whatever, just learn to ride before ya start worrying about english saddle or jumping or stuff like that. learn to care for your plug, learn all about horses in general, I would take an intensive year or 2 with your plug and eventually you can start doing some of that english saddle and very tiny jumps with the old horse (18 to 28) and then when you know enough to buy a horse without having to ask us on this forum you will be ready to take the next step, just find a nice home for your old dud, a kid or someone like you, before you replace him. Don't forget a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing around horses for you and the horse.

  2. I have 3 horses.  One of them is a retired steeple chaser/jumper.  He is a throughbred.  They are good horses, though they tend to be a little skiddish.  I would not suggest any western breed like quarterhorse, paint, appaloosa etc.  Warmblood's and throughbreds and other english type breeds.

  3. probably a quarter Horse.

here are some horses that would be good for you to start on.

i would suggest doing your reshearch before you consider it.  ex) find a barn to board at, vet fees, farriar, board fee

and most important do you have the time that the horse needs. AT MINIMUM 2 DAYS A WEEK

  4. Owning a horse is a really big responsibility. If you plan to get horse and are new to riding I suggest finding a trainer in your area and taking a few lessons. A trainer can help you find a horse that is right for your abilities and what you want to do. Generally most horses can do any type of sport, it really depends on the training.
