  1. The best thing to do is go to a dietitian to talk about becoming a vegetarian. You should be ready for your friends and family to say that you shouldn't. You should also think about if you really want to commit to becoming a vegetarian. This is a life changing decision. If you do commit to becoming a vegetarian it can be great for the eviorment, your health, and for the animals.

  2. HEY kRISTIE i WANT TO ASK YOU A QUESTION EMAIL ME!!!!

  3. Mainly I think you want to replace the meat part of your diet with something else that contains mainly protein, like legumes (tofu, peas, lentils, baked beans, etc.), seeds/nuts and maybe eggs and dairy depending how far you want to go (grains also contain a significant portion of protein but shouldnt be relied on alone).  It isn't very difficult to get enough protein and vitamins  it's unlikely you will end up malnourished or have a lack of protein if you eat a healthy balance of foods with grains, legumes, nuts/seeds etc.

Some fairly quick and easy foods to use are soups, pies, felafel, tofu, hummus, tortillas, caseroles, pizza etc. etc.

If you are unsure about the nutrition of certain foods, try here http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/se... .  Here is a site that suggests daily protein requirements http://www.indoorclimbing.com/Protein_Re... the requirement is relatively low compared to what we eat, and it should be very easy to get as a vegeterian.

To reiterate, grains, legumes, nuts / seeds and dairy replace any need for meat.

  4. You're making a great choice.  Go to this website.  They have everything you need to know, and if you have any questions, there are forums there too.

  9. well, the basic thing to do is just eat anything except meat or something containing a dairy product. There are good sides to this - it deletes a lot of junk food and you have to concentrate on cooking up natural foods and healthy healthy meals. But don't forget that an intact of dairy products is actually important. Humans were meant to eat both meat and veg. Eating meat and dairy products will give your body what it needs to be fit and healthy. Ever heard of a vegetarian olympic or farmer? As long as you eat well and have a good lifestyle, it doesn't matter if you eat meat. Just that, if you decide to, make sure you're doing it more for physical well being, rather than anything like physical or social appearance. I know quite a few people who have done ridiculous things (even operations) because a friend recommended it or something or because it was the latest thing. Do what's right for your body, and you'll be great.

  10. easy peasy! im 13, ive been vege for 8 years when no one else in my family is. theyre always trying to make me eat meat, and fish!

quorn is great, theres mince, sausages, nuggets, burgers, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and everything in vege!

just make sure you eat lots of nuts and seeds, because mat has protein, and you need to get it from the nuts because quorn doesnt have much in.

veges live 5-10 years longer than meat eaters!! wooo! go us!

theres also other brands that make vege stuff, like realeat vege bacon which i love and everyone else i know thats vegetarian hates! (all2 vege friends lol)

you will generally be slimmer than meat eaters, no one knows why, but its just a proven fact...!

theres loads on this website, and i would write more but i have to go to school XD

  11. Is There any real specific reason why you want to become an vegetarian?  The reason I ask this is because most vegetarians are malnourished because they don't really get enough protein in their diet and it only takes a very small 3oz. piece of meat to satisfy the recommended daily allowence of protein and you would have to eat an enormous amount of legumes or broccolli or spinach to get the equivilant amount.  especially if you are a young person particularly a female.  I just think you should research it first and contact nutritionist and make sure they help you create balanced diets if you really decide to become a vegetarian.  I am not against it, I personally don't eat much meat myself but I have the education to know how to keep myself healthy and I think that's what you need to do.

  12. Eat at least 5 different colors or fruits and veggies a day; consume whole grains as refined flours are made of grains that are stripped of their fiber, vitamins, minerals, and proteins and are turned into starch (sugar) powder.  The protein available is grains is called an incomplete protein as it does , not have all the essential amino acids our body needs to function.  Beans/legumes have the same problem, but with different amino acids.  Therefore, it is necessary to consume both grains and legumes (within the same day) to have an adequate intake of protein.  Nuts are great, and if you are not going vegan, dairy products and eggs offer great sources of complete proteins.

    Try:

-red and/or black beans and rice

    -silken tofu smoothies and pudding

    -burritos

    -hummus and pita

-lasagna (layer marinara, noodles, cheese and spinach, repeat...350 for 45 min)

-fried tofu with stir fry veggies

There are tons of website devoted to vegetarian recipes.  Have fun and try new things.

  13. i would suggest before you go to bed every night to cut you up some vegetables! These are handy on the go and in the morning when im late and have to get to work i just grab an apple, orange, and a banana

  14. you can buy faux turkey lunch meat. i bought a pack of it today and tried it for the first time, it's SO good and tastes like real turkey. the faux hot dogs aren't too good, but with lots of ketchup/mustard they're ok. and the veggie burgers are really good too. you can find lots of products out there for vegetarians. also, just regular meals without meat works too. like a bagel with cream cheese/peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, vegetarian baked beans, etc. lots of options nowadays. good luck, i hope it works out for you!

  15. for something quick i make smoothies with yogurt, fruit, peanut butter, chocolate, or watever else i can find lying around. nuts and beans 2
